Duane

DUANE (42 years old; born 1966 ± 2yrs – died 2008)

Duane was our previous alpha male – a key figure in the community he held onto his position as alpha for an unusually long 13 years through a balance of strength and an excellent social relationship with the females in the group. He sadly died at the beginning of 2008 from unknown causes, he had recently been demoted to beta male by Nick but was still very involved in the top level politics of the community and once the relationship had stabilised Nick seemed to rely heavily on his judgement and influence with the other members of the community. When the leadership was transferred to Nick and with his subsequent death, the old established male hierarchy was shaken up and there was a period of turmoil that gave many of the younger boys, such as Kato and Squibs, the chance to establish themselves.
